  • K-Brand Muay Thai Pads now available in Canada!

Combinations Sports is excited to introduce K-Brand Muay Thai equipment to the retail market in Canada. "K" pads are well known in Thailand, and are preferred by authentic Muay Thai trainers worldwide.

K-Brand is a small company in Thailand, notorious for their high quality craftsmanship and designs. Their products are handmade with a meticulous attention to detail.  Despite gaining (well deserved) international recognition and popularity, the company does not mass produce their product so as to maintain the legendary quality they have become known for.

K pads are lightweight, yet durable.  They were designed to absorb punishment from the fighter so that the trainer does not have to., and crafted in a way to maximize comfort for both the trainer and fighter. Their distinctive right/left handles  are angled to effectively provide wrist support for the trainer.

The single strap model has a unique tapered shape that makes it easier to tuck close to the trainer's body for realistic shots and training.

Elite Thai trainers prefer the style and quality of "K' pads so much that many of them spend their own money to purchase a pair, rather than using the gym's sponsored brand. Although these cost more than the average pair of Thai pads on the market, the quality, design, and durability are all second to none. The same pair of pads can last through years of professional training.

After trying a pair of K Pads, you'll agree -- nothing else compares!

  • Benefits of Boxing

It's no secret that regular exercise can fight off chronic illness, but boxing specifically is now being seen in a whole new light -- as a top contender for beating disease progression and helping patients recover after traumatic accidents.

The Rock Steady program, started in Indianapolis, focuses on people diagnosed with Parkinson's, a debilitating neurological disease. Currently,  drugs and general exercise are prescribed for symptom management, but there is no cure.   Reports of improved symptom management and slowing of disease progression is a huge motivator for individuals training to beat Parkinson's!

Another inspiring story comes from "Marcus The Wheelchair Boxer", paralyzed from the chest down from a motorbike accident, now a fighter, weight lifter, and boxing coach. See more on his story below:

  • Tribute to Honor Late Muay Thai Fighter

Jordan Coe Picture taken from Jordan Coe's Instagram account (@deachkalek_sorsumalee)

Tributes are flooding social media around the world to honor the late Scottish fighter, Jordan Coe. Coe moved to Thailand 3 years ago, to pursue a passion for Muay Thai and was training out of the Lamnamnoon Sor Sumalee Gym in Ubon Ratchathani.

Coe’s body was found by police in the Muang district of Thailand on Sunday. Hotel staff say he left mid-day on Saturday in a heavy sweat suit. He had been scheduled to fight Khon Bola, a Cambodian boxer, on Sunday night. Coe’s fight camp shared that he was likely out to shed three kilograms to meet the 61-kg limit for the bout.

A preliminary autopsy completed at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, concludes Coe suffered severe dehydration and shock to his system, while jogging in the scorching sun.

According to Lamnamnoon camp owner, Kukrit Kamolrit, Coe gained a reputation as “the dancing boxer” for his traditional Isan style dancing before beginning a bout. He is remembered by friends and family as a lovable, caring, and enthusiastic young man with a passion for the sport.

A crowd-funding page has been set up to ease the financial burden on his family to bring his body home to Scotland. Thanks to the incredible support of the international Muay Thai community, they currently have close to 1,000 donors raising almost £22,000.

  • Murder outside of Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok

A security guard was killed and a Muay Thai official assaulted in broad daylight by two armed men outside of Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, on Friday, March 24, 2017.

Lumpinee Boxing Stadium is famous for producing elite Thai boxers and promoting the culture of Muay Thai on both domestic and international levels. It’s been known as pillar for tourists wanting an authentic Muay Thai experience.

Per reports from The Bangkok Post and The Nation, Udom Deekrachang arrived via pickup truck around 1pm. It was outside the stadium that he was approached and beaten with a wooden bat by 2 men wearing motorcycle helmets. Anucha Prathumma, a stadium security guard whose age has been reported between 24 to 50 years, was shot in the chest while trying to intervene.

Both assailants fled the scene via motorbike. Mr. Udom, the technical division head for Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, was admitted to hospital and treated for a head injury.

There’s a well-known history of organized crime related to Muay Thai in Thailand, however it does not appear to be the case with this attack. In fact, Mr Udom’s daughter suspects some disgruntled boxing fans may be responsible.

Police continue to investigate evidence, including security camera footage, for clues pertaining to the attackers’ identities.
