Canadian fighter wins first women's bout at Pan Am Games

Mandy Bujold faced the unenviable task of facing a Mexican in her opening bout, Silvia Torres.

To say the crowd went wild when Torres entered the ring would be an understatement, but Bujold managed to retain her composure and grab 3-2 lead after the first, and 5-4 advantage after two, all the while the Mexican attempted to turn the bout into a brawl.

But in the third, the Canadian’s experience and fitness came to the forefront and by staying on her toes and launching pin-point combinations while moving in and out, Bujold pulled away to a 13-6 win. A great start for Canadian boxing
